Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy Level 1 |
August 20-23, 2009 (Thursday through Sunday 9:00 a.m. -5:30 p.m.) |
30 Continuing Education hours = $650 ($700 after July 23, 2009). Taught by Judah Lyons. |
The Biodynamic Craniosacral model is based on the work of Dr. William Garner Sutherland, Dr. Rollin Becker, Franklyn Sills, and others. Dr. Sutherland began his exploration into cranial bone motion at the turn of the 20th century. His later work moved away from bony movement and focused on a whole series of interrelated fluid tidal pulsations within the structure that reflected the most fundamental ordering and healing principle within the human body-mind. Dr. Becker continued Dr. Sutherland’s work until his passing in the 1990's and Franklyn Sills and other gifted practitioners continue to refine the principles and methods of cranial work. |
This seminar is the introduction to the coursework. It is the foundation from which all the later seminars are built upon. The student is taught the “mindset” that differentiates this style of cranial from others that are currently taught worldwide. This style of craniosacral therapy is based on the lineage from Sutherland, Becker, Sills and others, with current concepts of physics, where the human form is perceived as a liquid, crystalline matrix. |
The first seminar covers the history of the work and the lineage that brings us to the present state of application, and a wide scope of issues that are brought to our practice. Perceptual skills are the fundamental thrust of this seminar where stillness and a place of neutral are sought and all techniques spring forth from that place of presence that the practitioner holds. |
Field dynamics are introduced and the shifts of perception or change in state are the focal point of this seminar. The three tides (CRI, mid-tide and long tide) are introduced within the perception of the fluid field. Still Points as a therapeutic tool are also explored. A simple Chi Gung approach is taught that will facilitate the student’s own well-being and their ability to amplify the healing potential. |

| Melting Muscles | |
| September 26-27, 2009 (Saturday & Sunday 9 a.m. -5 p.m.) | |
| 14 Continuing Education hours = $250 ($270 after August 27). Taught by Georgia LaCroix | |
| Muscles relax when the brain feels safe! Melting Muscles is a neuromuscular technique that communicates "safety" to the cerebellum (controls muscular tension) by addressing the muscles in their shortened (contracted) positions and naturally shortening phases (through the cranial rhythm). The brain responds immediately by a gradual softening of the muscles, reducing tension and discomfort. Melting Muscles is an approach that works with the body's own wisdom, resulting in a deeply effective massage and in a longer retention of the relaxed state. This workshop is simple, full of discovery and all hands-on; you will be working 100% of the time at the tables. Your own muscles will melt as you receive about six hours of Melting Muscles in two days! This two-day workshop provides technique for a full-body treatment as well as assessments for low back, hip and shoulders, enabling you to create a "treatment massage" tailored to what your client brings on any particular day. | |

| Atlas/Axis Intensive | |
| September 28, 2009 (Monday, 9 a.m. -5 p.m.) | |
| 7 CEUs = $150 ($165 after August 28). Taught by Georgia LaCroix | |
| This one-day class uses the slow and gentle Melting Muscles technique, applying it to specific muscles of the head and upper neck. The Atlas/Axis joint is the joint most often adjusted by chiropractors. When this joint is "locked" the results are tension and pain in the neck, shoulders, upper back, and potentially throughout the body. In this all hands-on workshop you will learn approaches to unlock this joint. You will spend the entire class at the tables so that your hands learn the technique before your forebrain understands it. Receiving about 3 hours of calm and gentle bodywork, you will find yourself profoundly relaxed and centered, allowing you to "understand" the effect you will soon be able to offer your clients. Reading the included manual before and after the workshop cements your knowledge. | |

Tension can build up within our facial muscles from the pressures of everyday life without us realizing it. It can be easy for certain thoughts and emotions to become habitual, locking themselves into expressions on our faces - sometimes over a duration of a whole lifetime. Under such conditions muscles can actually “dry up” and contract, inhibiting freedom of expression. This can encourage aging and the formation of wrinkles as the face loses its muscle tone and elasticity and begins to sag. Indian Face Massage (Facial rejuvenation) is a natural facelift through massage, designed to be a gentle non-invasive approach to looking younger. The technique works primarily by freeing constrictions both within the facial muscles and in the connective tissue.
Through gentle massage of the face, we can
help to delay the aging process. This is
achieved by using simple massage techniques
and energy balancing, thereby giving the
facial muscles a lift and a new lease on
life. |
| This is a precise healthcare modality, working the face systematically, releasing deep-seated tensions, freeing layers of muscle and connective tissue so that there is space for the muscles to relax, encouraging an opening so that micro circulation and elimination can begin again and the tissues can glide smoothly over the deeper layers of muscle and bone. Although it is difficult to stave off the aging process, we can do much to extend the appearance of youth and beauty by using simple, natural and effective massage techniques and energy balancing to take care of the assets we possess. |

By the end of this workshop, you will know how to release this unwanted stress in the chest, neck, shoulders, hands and be able to extend this knowledge to other parts of the body. In addition, you will gain an understanding of the relationship between posture and emotional attitudes and how constricted tissue leads to creating and enforcing emotional negativity. At the end of this workshop, your neck and shoulders will be relaxed. You will breath more deeply, with less effort. |
