Attendance Policy
for the 600
hour massage training: |
A minimum of 500 hours of class time is
required in order to graduate from the
program and qualify for State certification.
While enrolled, the student must maintain an
84% attendance rate (i.e. attend at least 84
out of every 100 classes. Attendance
records will be kept at the school. |
| |
If a student is late or leaves
early that will be recorded and
he or she will not get credit
for the entire class.
| |
The student is encouraged to
make every effort to attend the
scheduled classes.
| |
The content of any classes
missed will need to be made up
by meeting with the teacher or
director, doing extra reading or
assignments. |
| |
A student's attendance will be
evaluated and reported in
writing to the student at the
end of each Course (i.e. after
classes 11, 35, 58, 81, 100,
120, 128, and 150). |
| |
If a student's attendance is found to have fallen below the
84% required, they will be placed on attendance probation
and will need to show an 84% or better attendance rate by the
end of the next Course. Failure to do so will result in
dismissal. During this time period, the student's attendance
rate will be monitored weekly. |
| |
The total attendance at the end
of the program will be recorded
on the student's transcript. |
| |
Class Make-up Policy |
The content of
any classes missed will need to be made up
by meeting with the teacher or director,
doing extra reading or assignments, at the
discretion of the teacher or director. |
Leave of Absence |
If the student
feels that it is necessary to take a leave
of absence from the program because of an
illness or family emergency, they will need
to put this in writing and discuss it with
the director.
The student's
opportunity to return with the same class
will be determined on an individual basis by
the amount of time missed and the
individual's academic progress to date.
In the case
where the student needs to resume with
another class, if the student has already
paid for the entire program and completed
more than 300 hours of training, no tuition
will be owed when the student resumes the
training. If the student has paid for the
entire program and completed less than 300
hours of training, or if the student is on
the payment plan, they will get a refund
according to the refund policy, and resume
payment of tuition after re-entering the
program to total $6900. If the student
doesn't return from the leave of absence,
they will get a refund according to the
refund policy. |

Attendance and Academic Probation |
The
probationary period starts immediately after
the student has been placed on probation.
They are required to complete material per
instructor or director's indication and/or
repeat classes at the earliest date offered.
This includes: |
Failure of class (Final grade
below 80%) |
Repeated unacceptable class
participation |
Continual tardiness |
Excessive missed classes |
Inappropriate behavior |
The student,
teacher and/or director of school determine
the terms of the probation period. These
terms include material and/or behavior in
question, appropriate time frame (by the end
of the next Course or sooner) to complete
material or change behavior. All parties
must sign an agreement stating when
probation will end and actions to be taken
to resolve the unacceptable academic or
attendance progress. If at the end of these
terms, the agreed upon goals have not been
met, the student will be withdrawn from the
program. |
While on
probation, the student is expected to keep
up with current coursework. A student will
be withdrawn from the program if on
probation for two consecutive evaluations.
If a student
is withdrawn from the program, they may be
considered for readmission, but they will
need to repeat the courses that were not
passed, and pay the tuition from that point
in the program going forward.
In the case if
extreme behavioral or attendance problems,
the school reserves the right to place a
student on probation at non-evaluation
points.
The student
has a right to appeal at any point the
actions taken to put them on probation or
the dismissal from the program. |
Student Appeal Process |
Students may
initiate an appeal process by submitting a
written request for readmitt-ance or waiver
to the Director. The school's Academic
Committee will review the request based on
the student's overall academic progress,
professional development, instructors'
recommendations and particular circumstances
surrounding placement on probation or
dismissal from the program.
The student
will be notified of the Academic Committee's
decision within 14 business days from the
date of the appeal. The appeal process is
not eligible to students who are terminated
for exceeding the maximum program completion
time. |
